Mike Poggenpohl began the business out of his garage in 2005. He was soon joined by long-time friend Paul Papke as a helper and wiring specialist. The rules of business say that most ventures will fail within ten years, but Mike and Paul aren’t fans of rules. Despite the odds, their business thrived, and it didn’t take long before word of their work spread and they outgrew that small garage space.
By 2011, they moved their fledgling operation into a commercial space in Rock Island, Illinois, and they continued their work part-time. They renovated a former gas station to fit their needs, and it wasn’t long before they outgrew that space, as well.
In December 2013, Mike and Paul took the plunge into a full-time business partnership, and they opened their shop as co-owners in the former fire station on 4th and Filmore in Davenport, Iowa. They added a custom clothing line, held bike and car shows and left a trail of satisfied customers in their path.
What once seemed like a huge space could no longer house all of the bikes brought their way. October 2017 marked the advent of their latest move to their current location at 1730 Rockingham Road, Davenport, Iowa. This 22,500 square foot facility provides them with the space for a 2500 square foot showroom, 15,000 square feet of shop space and plenty of winter storage.
